Bullet Retires
May
2ND, 2010
We
got news from Dave W that Hot Bullet has been retired.
"Hot
Bullet has been officially retired from racing. He is now part
of the Adena Springs Retirement program in Canada. Hot Bullet
will be cared for until a new owner has been found that is willing
to make a lifelong commitment to his health and well being.
He finished
his career with 1 win from 7 starts."
I hope they find a
good home for him, I never got to see him race live.

Bullet Results
February
20TH, 2010
Hot
Bullet finished last (8th) in a race at the Meadowlands on November
14th 2009. I saw the race live on TVG, and he was just not there
to race. By the first corner he had dropped back significantly
and was totally out of the picture. Not user what the story is
here. Poor training? Unprepared to race that day? Injury? There
have been no workouts since the race. Unsure of future training
for 2010.
Hot
Bullet finished 3rd in a race at Laurel Park October 9th 2009,
where he went in as the odds on favorite. I was unable to see
the race, as it was not broadcast on TVG.

Bullet Finishes 3rd
June
20TH, 2009
Hot
Bullet raced June 20th at Colonial Downs race track. He finished
3rd after going off as the race favorite. I haven't seen the race
yet, it wasn't televised on my satellite provider. The race description:
"HOT
BULLET settled inside down the backstretch, angled out leaving the
far turn, came three wide for the drive, angled to the rail leaving
the three sixteenths marker and finished with good energy."
I
like the "good energy" part, wish he had used it all to winthe race
though... Attached

Bullet Running June 20th at Colonial Downs
June
20TH, 2009
We
got word this week that Hot Bullet will be running Saturday June
20th at Colonial Downs. He will race in the 6th race, a One Mile
Turf race, $23,000 Maiden Special Weight. Colonial Downs is in Virginia,
and not in my driving zone for attending races, so I won't be at
this one. Morning line odds have him at 9/5. Jockey Malcom Franklin
will be giving him a ride.
As
an aside, its a big day of racing at Colonial Downs, with Julian
Leparoux, Corey Nakatani, Garret Gomez, Edgar Prado, and Kent Desormeaux
in town for the $500,000 G2 Colonial Turf Cup (Race 11 - 6:16pm),
and the $150,000 G3 All Along S. (Race 10 - 5:21pm).
According
to the Colonial Downs Racing Tipsheet (Nick's Picks), the race should
unfold as follows:
"Hot
Bullet wins with a repeat effort. "Bopper
the Hopper" won 2 over the hedges last fall.
Jogger has Garcias."
WIN: 12 Hot Bullet
PLACE: 3 Jogger
SHOW: 1 Class Bopper
Let's
hope Nick's right on with his picks.
Respectable
day at Pimlico
May
22ND, 2009
Hot
Bullet raced May 16th at Pimlico on Preakness day. He was in the
third race, a 1 1/16 mile Maiden Special Weight race on the turf.
Jockey Alan Garcia guided him round the course to a fourth place
finish. Much nicer than the first time out.

Outrun
April
28TH, 2009
Outrun,
summed up in one word. I got to see a glimse of Hot Bullet as he
really didn't want to get into the starting gate. Then off they went
with Hot Bullet at the back of the pack. He stayed there for the
race. I saw his hoofs as they rounded the corner, then a blur as
he passed the finish line in last, quite far back.
Well,
he's out there and run. So at least now he knows what its like. There
was some stiff competition from top riders, on the day of the Withers.
maybe the class was too much for him, we'll see. I hope he races
again.

Hot
Bullet to Race?
April
24TH, 2009
Wow
an update? I just got notice that Hot Bullet is entered to run Saturday
April 25th at Aqueduct in a $43,000 Maiden Special Weight race. It
is Race 5, 6 furlongs over dirt with "The Mig" riding (Richard Migliore).
He's not getting much love, with 12-1 odds for the race.
I
wasn't sure the notification was legit, as I hadn't heard from Dave
W, that he was indeed racing, but it seems to be true.
No
mention of Hot Bullet in the Race Analysis from Dave Liftin DRF:
Fifth
Race: 1. Brook Dance 2. Wanted Alive 3. Linebacker
BROOK DANCE showed good early speed in his first two starts, improving
several lengths when switched to the main track; 5-year-old gets
off the rail, figures to get some pressure from at least one or two
of the six first-time starters. WANTED ALIVE made up some ground
vs. multiple stakes winner Musket Man in debut last fall; training
well for return. LINEBACKER is a half-brother to three multiple winners;
sharp Laurel works for dangerous debut barn. INTREPID is a half to
eight multiple winners, notably $291K sprint stakes winner Thisnearlywasmine.
Regardless
of the outcome, i'll be interested to see how he does. First
race out as a 4 year old, cool. Too short
of notice for me to make plans to be at the track for this one.
I'll be sure to set the DVR though, 2:54pm. The Mig will be up
against some good jockeys in this one, Coa, Rajiv, Cornelio Velasquez,
Dominguez, and Prado. No Talamo for this one :).
Racing
Venture Update
December
31ST, 2007
We
got an this update on the racing venture today:
(Dave)
spoke with Adena this morning about Powerful Storm who is running
later today at Turfway. The racing mgr. is not very optimistic about
the horse at this point, and thinks that the best thing we have going
for us is the relatively soft field we will be facing. Dale Romans
has told Adena that he is a "heavy" horse (too much weight
on him) and that he is a bit of a plodder in his works. They hope
that he "wakes up" in the race and shows them a little
more speed than he has in the morning.
All of the trainers
that work for Adena are told only to run when the horse is ready
- there is no pressure to run early or to point to anything specific,
truly an ideal situation for any trainer. Adena believes in giving
all of their horses as much time as they need to develop which is
evident in the fact that this is the first horse from the group of
6 to make a start as a 2 year old.
Harlem Rocker is
progressing well and should start at Gulfstream soon, and Holy Knight
is training steadily. Frank Stronach is a big fan of Holy Knight
(He loves his intelligence and believes that he will be a very useful
horse). Golden Dynasty is also training forwardly and has some believers
as well. Hot Bullet is a horse that will benefit from longer distances
and is being given some time at Adena South (still training) before
heading back to the racetrack.
The
Horses Get Shipped Out
May
30TH, 2007
We
heard from Adena that some of the horses have been assigned to trainers
and are shipping out to their respective tracks.
- Gazumba - Still
with Graham Bell at Adena Farm training center in Canada will most
likely go to Brian Lynch at Woodbine.
- Golden Dynasty
- with Bobby Frankel at Belmont
- Harlem Rocker
- still in Ocala
- Holy Knight
- with Bobby Frankel at Belmont
- Hot Bullet -
with Kiaran McLaughlin at Belmont
- Powerful Storm
- with Dale Romans at Churchill

Racing Venture 2 Details
May 10TH, 2007
The
club has sold out! Here is a PDF file presentation on the six horses
we have bought into.
Welcome
To Horse Hats Racing Club VI
May 9TH, 2007
Today
we just joined Horse Hats Racing Club VI. Horse Hats is probably
the best web site for buying horse racing hats. In addition to the
hats, on occasion the site owner will purchase shares in a horse
and then offer pieces of his share to anyone willing to pay (and
who can get in in time). The shares usually sell out quickly. Our
friend Mark got shares in Club V, and we bought shares in Club VI.
In
this club we paid a little more money, but we also got a small share
in six horses instead of one. The six horses are all out of the Adena
Springs racing stable. Their names are Gazumba, Golden Dynasty, Harlem
Rocker, Holy Knight, Hot Bullet, and Powerful Storm. This web page
will be your source, and my source for keeping track of all the information
I get regarding these horses. Will we ever see a profit? Doubtful,
but its more of a fun ride for us. |
